This Blog Has Been Moved, Finally

Yes, I'm back. I moved the blog... finally. It was not easy, I chose the hardest way: I'm rolling my own blog engine now. I know there are already many great blog engines and it sounds insane writing a new one, but I have my reasons.

Nearly all blog engines out there are database driven and generate every page dynamically. That doesn't make sense to me. Blog posts are not so dynamic. Further more, this blog is hosted in a shared server, so I don't think it's a good idea to put such stress in the server. Although this blog does not receive millions of visits a day, I've been dugg twice and reached the delicious front page and I hope this could happen again.

There's much to do yet and it's far from perfect, but I think it's ready for receiving visits. The comment and TrackBack subsystems are working already, so feel free to use them. Categories and pingback support are on their way. I need to work in the design, right now it is based on a Blogger template.

I still wonder if I made the right decision but I think time will answer. One thing is sure: I'll learn a lot from this.

Welcome to my new site nongeekperspective.com! So, please update your bookmarks :-)

Thanks virens, but I think it's better to make the blog look a bit different. BTW, your comment show me a bug in the system. It's not your faul, I'm working on it. Thanks again.

Why not use the DasBlog blog engine? It uses XML files, so there's no need for a database.
